Ok, how many of you are a fan of Bing? Are you too obsessed with Google and telling me that nothing can beat Google? Well, I tend to differ here. I like to try out different applications that get released and I am always open to thinks that are. In the marketing world I would be named an 'Early Adopter". Let's see how and what Micrsoft wants its Bing to bang!
Search engine industry is not new for Microsoft as we all know. They cudn't create a remarkable footprint with their early engines- Live search and MSN search, but now I strongly believe that they have positioned Bing differently than the rest of the search engines in the market. Yes, Bing is purely for e-commerce is my opinion. You should try to buy your ticket or find a restaurant in Bing. Then you will know what I mean.
Why you think Microsoft would do this? My answer is Online Advertising! Well, Microsoft is not here yet. They are not only have to increase the traffic to their website but there is a lot for them to catch up with Google. Google has nearly 1 trillion indexes whereas Micrsoft is far behind with million indexes. Moreover Google is now more just a habit for all of us, and it is not jsut the search engine but all other services like mail, chat, online docs etc.
Despite the challenges, Microsoft is willing to endure in the hope that Bing will eventually gain traction and market share in the search engine industry. The future for online advertising is looking greener than ever and I would say that Microsoft has rightly positioned itself to take advantage of the growing market.
