Two weeks ago in early December, I attended a conference on Mobile computing and I left with a strong thought that we are heading towards a future in which the third screen (Mobile) would replace the first screen (Television).
Until two years ago I was an avid user of Trip Advisor website almost on daily basis since I had been travelling around Europe a lot. But now that I travel only within the US, I don't use Trip Advisor as much because I don't look for reviews rather only for hotel and flight deals. So I use websites such as hotwire.com that are more focused on travel deals and I don’t perceive Trip Advisor as a website that would offer me the best deals.
Apparently here, Trip Advisor has lost one of it most loyal customers and there is a need here to keep the customers engaged constantly though for now he/she might not be making significant trips but in future. With the new capabilities in mobile devices and increasing migration towards the usage of mobile applications, I think that gaining a strong foothold in the mobile applications and platforms is the only way to maintain constant contact with the customers.
